Q: Concerns about potential malpractice in cancer treatment in GA.
I believe my brother's oncologist in Georgia might have committed malpractice. He was initially diagnosed with cancer in August 2022, and despite PET scans and concerns from a radiologist indicating potential metastatic cancer, the oncologist dismissed symptoms as radiation damage. There were long delays starting radiation due to machine issues. Later, in March 2023, a PET scan showed a lung spot, initially dismissed as mucus. By May, a surgeon couldn't feel the original cancer, suggesting it was under control. However, by August 2023, my brother experienced unaddressed pain, leading my doctor to discover a 3 cm lung mass and fluid, while his oncologist continued monthly visits without addressing these symptoms. My brother passed away on September 3, 2023. I have contacted lawyers who noted he already had cancer, hence no case. His doctor is not communicating with me. Who could be held responsible for this, if at all, given the circumstances?
