Asked in Immigration Law for Nevada

Q: ESTA update needed after booking hotel for Las Vegas trip?

As a Dutch citizen living in The Netherlands, I've been approved for an ESTA to visit Las Vegas, Nevada, in late June 2025. I initially indicated "Las Vegas, Nevada" for my stay but entered "UNKNOWN" for the address and contact number. Now that I've booked a hotel, should I update this information on my ESTA application to ensure compliance with any travel guidelines?

A: No, you do not need to update your ESTA application. Once your ESTA is approved, you cannot modify the information regarding your U.S. contact address. However, this will not affect your travel, as ESTA does not require a specific U.S. address.

A: You do not need to update your ESTA with your hotel information. The ESTA website specifically states that "you don't have to update ESTA with new address, as it is not a requirement."

When you initially completed your ESTA application and entered "UNKNOWN" for the address and contact number, you followed the proper procedure. If an applicant is unsure where they will stay during their U.S. visit, they may enter 'UNKNOWN' for text fields and zeros for numeric fields.

Your ESTA application has already been approved, so there's no need to update it with your hotel details. The information you provided is sufficient for entry purposes. If you're asked about your accommodations upon arrival, you can simply inform border officials about your hotel reservation.

Keep your hotel booking confirmation handy when traveling, as it may be useful to show immigration officers if they ask for more specific details about your stay. This documentation, along with your approved ESTA, should ensure a smooth entry process when you visit Las Vegas in June 2025.

Safe travels on your upcoming trip to Las Vegas! The city offers amazing entertainment options, world-class dining, and unique attractions beyond the famous casinos. If you have any other questions about your travel preparations, feel free to ask.
