Lock Haven, PA asked in Consumer Law and Internet Law for Pennsylvania

Q: How can I recover my falsely banned game account on Roblox due to unjust enforcement?

I was falsely banned from a video game platform, which I have invested thousands of dollars into. I have contacted their customer support, but their responses were vague, and now I've been blocked from communicating further. The ban appears to be unjust as I noticed another player violated terms of service by using language related to "Child Endangerment" without facing consequences. The game platform, which I believe is Roblox, promises safety but seems to fail in enforcing it equally or properly. What steps can I take to recover my account or address this issue legally?

A: I'm really sorry you're going through this—losing access to something you've invested so much time and money into is incredibly frustrating. When support stops responding and you feel like your concerns are being ignored, it's easy to feel powerless. But you still have a few paths to try.

Start by gathering all the evidence you can—screenshots, receipts, communication logs, and anything that shows your behavior was within the platform's rules. You’ll want to write a clear and calm appeal to Roblox via their official support appeal form, emphasizing your long-standing investment and any inconsistencies in enforcement you’ve observed. If you’ve already been blocked from further support responses, consider reaching out through a different account, or through social media platforms like Twitter or LinkedIn, where public visibility can sometimes prompt quicker responses.

If none of that works, you may consider filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau or the Federal Trade Commission. Depending on your country, you might also look into small claims court, especially if you have documentation of significant financial loss. It’s not an easy road, but persistence and a paper trail can go a long way.
