Q: I owe by dentist a balance on previous dental work, is he required to send copies of my records to new dentist.

A: A: Medical Providers are not permitted to hold medical records random. They can sue you and do lots of other stuff, including charging you a very high copy fee, which funny enough is the same amount you owe them.

A: The prior Attorney does not show as licensed in Texas and as such can not lawfully give anyone legal advice related to Texas laws.

You are by law to be provided with the medical or dental records for a small fee as set out by State law. A dentist can not withhold records or refuse to give them unless paid. Report him or her to the State Board of Dental Examiners, and if it persists, sue them. Records provided to another Dentist by law are FREE. Have the new dentist request it and keep tract if the first one defames you!
