Q: How long do I have/how long can I legally wait to pay out the lump sum payment to my ex? (NJ)

divorce agreement doesn't specify time only to be paid by cert check. the agreement does not even say "lump sum" it just says, " Husband shall tender to Wife a certified check in the sum of $75,000"

Q: Can I live with my boyfriend if I’m collecting my ex husbands pension? I know I can’t remarry.

We were divorced in NY but I now live in NJ.

New York law will apply here. However, under NJ law the pension is an asset of the marriage which is distributed through a Qualified Domestic Relations Order so it is not in the same category as alimony spousal support. Unless otherwise agreed by the parties, the coverture of the marital estate is date of marriage to date the divorce complaint is filed.
