Evictions are being processed in court. If you were not on the lease and the actual lessee got a summons, you could have included yourself in the suit through the answer. The LL usually posts a notice to unauthorized occupants and defaults them after serving the Summons/complaint. The inception... Read more »
Landlord tried to raise our rents (7 tenants in a house, 4 BR when originally built) by 30% or more on only 30 days notice. Me and another tenant resisted paying the increase after doing online research that he can only raises it 10% max.

Yes to all of the above. Sorry to hear you are being subjected to this treatment. If you reported code violations before he gave any eviction notices, you probably have an excellent case to defend an eviction action on retaliatory basis. Once you win that you have a lawsuit against landlord for... Read more »
This is not ok I pay my rent every month and I am not the only tenant this has happened to in my building. They turned off my keyfob because I had my boyfriend bring up groceries when I was sick

Very sorry to hear about this. You need to contact a local attorney about this and start a small claims action to recover rents paid and for "forceable detainer" which is when a LL evicts without legal process. You are entitled to a number of damages, value of property left in the... Read more »
The lease was expired in 2020. Tenant stayed for 7 years.
The seller’s 60 days notice says that “move out in 60 days or to get into the contract of buyer”.
I want to move in by myself.
Tenant is paying rent.

You would be safest to serve your own 60 day notice and remember the tenant is required to pay rent during this time and is entitled to a month's rent as moving allowance. After 60 days, evict. Be sure to comply with any rent moratorium requirements and notices to tenant about rental... Read more »
I have lived at my place for 10 months. I was recently told by LAPD I had an invalid lease but the owner would be returning with eviction papers. I waited and waited but got nothing. One day, I come "home" to the management company on my property. They had shut all my utilities off,... Read more »

Very sorry to hear about this. You probably qualify for a Court Fees waiver. You should file an action against the landlord and the management company for "Forceable detainer" which is illegally locking you out of the apartment without going through any eviction process or notices to... I told my dentist I had a Root canal dentist I knew was in the plan but they insisted I go to their guy who was their sister office; it turned out he was not in the plan and they tried to make me pay the full amount. There is a law on the books since 2017 that says if you are being treated by a provider under a plan and get additional treatment from a non plan provider that the non plan provider must take the amount allowed by the plan. Consult with an attorney about this and google this for the California law... Read more »

Kanye cancelled his Coachella performance. I want a refund because I really wanted to see him, but the ticket seller is refusing.

not likely. most tickets for these events state that the program line up may change. If it was a concert by one particular artist, maybe.
I bought a car from a used car lot in CA I was given a temporary registration paper while the dealership put in for the registration. It has only been a week but I was pulled over and my car was towed because they said the registration is not in my name.

answered on Apr 17, 2022
You should consult a local attorney about your situation and take him all the documents that you had for the police. If the registration matched your driver's license this should not have happened. (easy for me to say after it has happened) So sorry to hear this.

If you have proof that you took this out in the minor's name you should reclaim through the state controller's unclaimed property office procedures, otherwise the persons in whose name it was taken in can make the claim. Also, do a search of that office under your name for other accounts.

I was recently awarded a judgment to to be paid for unpaid wages in. The company may be under new ownership now, so how does that work? Can I still collect if that is the case?

answered on Apr 17, 2022
You really need the help of an attorney now. First, you may be able to collect attorney's fees to collect on the judgment. Next, a successor company is usually responsible for the debts of the predecessor. But an attorney has to look at all of this and determine the best way to go. Go to... Read more »
