Did you adopt from a municipal shelter (i.e. governmentally owned or operated or a non-profit that has a contract with the government to adopt out pets?) No, you cannot. This would likely be felony animal cruelty. A licensed veterinarian has to euthanize the animal. If you cannot afford to do this, you need to relinquish to an animal shelter and they will likely make you pay a relinquishment fee and they will euthanize your dog.
