Riverside, CA asked in Family Law for California

Q: How do I find a pro-bono attorney for family law trial Feb 09??

I've had custody 7.5 years, mediator said moving my sons is not in their best interest. My ex remarried 1.5 years ago, now he wants custody. There has not been a complaint prior to this. I am a professional; high school teacher, but have serious financial issues. I have done well in court 8/30/10 and 11/30/10; I'm still concerned. My ex bad-mouths me, he used my 13 year old to help the process server to serve me the court papers... He is alienating my son against me, eroding our relationship, and I need to know how to express that in court. I need my judge to see the damage being done to my sons.

A: Your best bet is likely to contact your local legal aid office, or the Bar Association in your county and ask for a pro bono reference.

A: The other way to find a pro-bono attorney is to find a Family Law attorney who is in the process of becoming Certified as a Family Law Specialist. If you call the larger firms they may have an attorney who is looking for the trial experience they need to qualify.
