Walnut Creek, CA asked in Divorce for California

Q: What kind of lawyer do I need. I have very limited money for this and he has tons and tons of money.

In California. Long-divorced, but two joint accounts were never divided (stocks, I believe). Ex was receiving all statements. At end of most recent case, Judge ordered me to pay sanctions to ex of $20,000. Also, after I lost the appeal, he was awarded court costs and the costs filed were $887.97. He was under the impression that I had to pay for all of his legal fees from the appeal, but that is not true according to the case actions -- "just" the $20,000 sanction and the $887.97 that was filed in the memorandum of costs - remittur "costs awarded to respondent." I just found that he has gone into the account and taken out far more than he should have. It should have been divided in half and I then would have had $20.887.87 deducted from my half. He took FAR more than that and left the account with a way smaller amount. How do I fight this?? I have an email from him that states the approximate value of what was in the account in late October. HELP!!

I am sorry to hear about your situation. It seems like you need a divorce attorney. Since you were represented by an attorney in your case before, that attorney would be in best position to help you. You can also retain a new attorney, but your new attorney will have to take time to review the history of your case.
