A: Many pharmaceutical and medical device cases are handled on a national basis. There are usually a number of law firms that focus on a particular product/device. Cases are often filed in federal court and combined in what's called a multi-district litigation (MDL). For example, there is a federal MDL for transvaginal mesh cases in the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia.

Reach out to your lawyers and talk to them. Express your concerns and see what they say. If you still feel you want a different lawyer, you can search for local lawyers. In some situations, local lawyers are not keen on handling an expensive, complicated, high-stakes product liability lawsuit that's being administered in a different state.

If you do decide to switch lawyers, hire a new lawyer first before letting go your current lawyer. Your new lawyer can actually do it for you. I know several top-notch law firms handling these cases nationally and can put you in touch if you'd like.
