Q: Late rent and fees
I have been late on rent the past 3 months. The first month I paid it including late fees. The second month she tried charging me $690 in late fees. My rent is $1500 month and I could not afford it. She said if I wasn't late again I would not have to pay the $690. Friday I paid $800 towards rent. Yesterday she gives me a 3 day notice for $2220. I cant pay double the rent. I also have a family and dontwant to be evicted. Further more the landlord owes me $300 and refuses to pay so I have filed an ethics violation against her with our local board of realtors. What do I do? I plan on paying my rent in full but I cant pay these late fees.
A: Go see a landlord/tenant attorney about this. When an eviction is filed you have to do a number of things, do them all.
