Q: Auto insurer told me I was covered. Crashed. Told I wasn't covered retroactively. Any legal precedent I can cite?
I called my insurer and a representative assured me I was covered internationally. Swerved to avoid a car in my lane and collided with a hedgerow. Filed a claim with my insurer who informed me I was not actually covered. If I had known this I would have taken out additional insurance on the rental. I called to inquire with whom I spoke initially and they have no record of my call but I do. Is there any precedent that would help me out? One of their representatives gave me information which caused me to believe I was fully covered.
