Tampa, FL asked in Family Law, Child Custody, Child Support and Health Care Law for Florida

Q: 50/50 custody, Do I have to pay half of bi-weekly health insurance deductions?

Me and my kids father have been divorced for over a year now. We have 50/50 custody, they are with me on weekends and half of the summer. We agreed he'd be in charge of their insurance. But now he's asking me to pay for the money that is deducted from his paycheck that pays for the insurance, is this my responsibility? He's the one who insisted on having them insured with his jobs healthcare. He's threatening to put me on child support for it, if I don't.

A: No, assuming the divorce decree provides that he will pay the insurance premium, it would make no sense were it also to require that you reimburse him for the premium he pays.
