Q: Can the maker of a phone app deactivate data that was sold during a subscription period once said period expires?

I purchased a phone app in 2012. Over the course of 5 years, the subscription changed to allow me to download maps to be used on my phone to make it function like a GPS device. I've acquired years worth of hiking/backpacking data on the app with waypoints and bread-crumb trails that took thousands of hours to accumulate. The data is not replaceable and is worthless without the underlying map. I've downloaded several of these maps across the country. The maker of the app phased out the service in favor of a more expensive platform that requires the use of a subscription. As it was, the maps that I had "purchased" (the maps were stored in a tab labeled as such), were inactivated once the company phased the app out in favor of their more expensive platform. I'm now stuck with losing all my collected data which is invaluable to me. I'd be happy even if I was allowed or not allowed to go on DLing maps, I just want the data that I've already DL'd to function as it's still on my phone.

A: It's helpful if you put which app, because it may be contract specific. Feel free to reach out to me also. This is an interesting question.
