El Centro, CA asked in Federal Crimes, Gov & Administrative Law, Criminal Law and Civil Rights for California

Q: I need to find a good Lawyer who is willing to sue the Federal Government on my behalf.

I have served my time for a Mail Fraud conviction many years ago, and was released on good behavior. I am now on Probation and it is almost finished. I am in EXCELLENT standing, have obeyed all the rules and have a job with a good income and good standing in the community. The Federal Probation department FORCED me to register as a sex offender for TWO years even though I am NOT a sex offender and I had provided proof of documentation to the police department and the probation department. They STILL made me do this!! I have shown them my proof and they did not care..they still made me register... I now have proof from the D.O.J. that I am NOT required to register and am NOT a sex offender. Over the past 2 years I have been absolutely humiliated by having to go through this unnecessary forced registration! I am angry and want to sue for damages. I need someone who will take my case.
