Silver Spring, MD asked in Traffic Tickets for Maryland

Q: speeding & driving with no supervision with my permit. Cop told me I can go to court and get it reduced, how to do that?

I got pulled over for speeding and I got another citation for driving with my permit with no supervision. It's $90 + $290. (Cop said 1 point plus 5 points ir maybe more). The cop also said I should go to court and maybe the judge will reduce or take it away/ dimisss it because getting 6 points sucks and because I'm young. The cop also said get my lisence and go to court becsuse it looks like yes I can drive I just messed up. Do I request hearing to explain? But I'm guilty there's nothing to explain. Request trial, even though I am guilty? What do I say? I don't understand what the cop meant and what to do, who to call? I bascially just want to know what to do or if there is a way to get this dismissed. By the way none of them say MUST APPEAR.

A: In all criminal situations, it is best to hire an attorney who specializes in that law and frequently goes to that court. That is exactly what I would recommend here. You want your attorney to talk for you in this situation.

And, yes, you must appear on the date required. Not showing up to court can lead to serious consequences.
