Coventry, RI asked in Animal / Dog Law and Landlord - Tenant for Rhode Island

Q: Tenants randomly sent service dog certificate & going to get a dog No pet lease. 4mo here w/o it? Not disabled they work

Tenanancy has been terminated for 4/2017. Sent in Feb. also didn't pay rent. Many police reports for domestic disturbances. My other tenants are very angry! Now says needs her dog that she's had. My paying tenants will leave of her boxer shows up tomorrow. I've started eviction. What can I do about dog?! She's not disabled. She works. She literally ordered a certificate online. Lived here 4mo w/o it? Please let me know what I can do other than await eviction

A: In the 9 days remaining in the month, you might contact the animal control officer while you are awaiting their departure. see https://www.animallaw.info/article/faqs-emotional-support-animals
