Q: Are there different rules for people filing bankruptcy a second (or more) time?

A: Yes there are different rules and a lot depends on what type of bankruptcy you filed the first time and whether or not you obtained a discharge. There may be no "automatic stay" protection in some cases, meaning if someone were delinquent in their mortgage, the mortgage company could still pursue foreclosure action, etc. I suggest meeting with an experienced bankruptcy attorney who can advise you based on your personal circumstances.
