Chula Vista, CA asked in Family Law and Child Custody for California

Q: what are my rights as a grandparent in california? not quite sure how to handle this situation.

my daughter has left my granddaughter with me for the past 4 months. she has not seen her child in nearly 2 months and prior to that only 6 times in 2 months. she was going thru hard times and did the right thing by keeping her safe and with me. the situation has steadily gotten worse, I found out she had been stealing and selling things of value from me and the friend i live with. she lied about having a job. she is basicly homeless. instead of using her tax return to get her own place and car, she blew it in a matter of two weeks on who knows what. she has been calling and wanting me to bring the child to a sketchy bed bug infested motel known for drugs and prostitution but luckily never followed thru because i dont know what i would have done. i have offered her a free place to stay, i even provide her with a cell phone that repetedly gets stolen and i have to replace. She now wants me to drop the child off at a market in a not so great area and wont tell me where she taking her.
