Q: Does it matter if you're not making less than 20% of what you were making.
My husband is paying child support for youngest child, recently started paying for his oldest child when she moved in with her mom, I always thought the oldest got more?? But the youngest is getting more and when he started paying for oldest the youngest support didn't decrease. He also recently got transferred making less money. He filled out child support modification papers because of the added child support and the pay decrease and it was denied because he isn't making 20% less than what he was making. In Illinois is that how it works??
A: The 20% is a rule of thumb to prevent people from clogging up the courts asking for child support modifications.
