Q: What steps should I take if I suspect the legal guardian of my grandmother is abusing her?

A: Contact the Florida Abuse Hotline at 1-800-96-ABUSE (1-800-962-2873). the will be able to walk you through the process from their and will launch an investigation.

A: You could report it to the Elder Abuse Hotline -- they will ask you for all the information and then respond accordingly.

You could report it directly to the supervising Judge's office in writing -- clerk of court should serve the same purpose.

You could contact a guardianship attorney in your jurisdiction that could give you some ideas based on the way the Judicial Circuit is set up as they are all a little different.

A: You should immediately contact the elder abuse hotline and provide detailed information to the Department of Children and Families, so that they may investigate. If you are not satisfied with the results of this investigation, or simultaneous with this investigation, then you may also wish to retain a guardianship attorney to assist you to file a motion with the court to review your allegations.
