Concord, CA asked in Family Law, Probate and Small Claims for California

Q: My mother passed away and her same sex domestic partner is avoiding me. She has presented no will. What can I do?

She has started packing to move and time is limited. How do I get some of my mother's things before they are moved to another state and unobtainable?

A: Are they registered domestic partners? You may be able to initiate a probate action in court asap to claim your rightful share of any will or trust, or under statutory intestacy laws. More details are necessary to provide a professional analysis of your issue. The best first step is an Initial Consultation with an Attorney.
