Chicago, IL asked in Child Custody, Child Support, Divorce and Domestic Violence for Oklahoma

Q: First divorce hearing June 8th. My husband has an attorney, I cannot afford one.

There is a PO to protect myself and my kids, domestic violence charges are with the DA. I need an extension and temporary child support. I called his attorney an asked if he can do this, but I am concerned he is going to have my husband's best interest (of course) with everything he does. My husband is currently on probation for previous drug charges, he fractured my ribs during the domestic abuse incident. I do not want him to have any visitation, in fact, I am hoping this pending charge will violate his probation and he will go to prison. Can I do all of this on my own? I am very nervous.

A: Hello:

You should consider contacting legal aid and see if they can help you. You should not attempt to represent yourself.
