Santa Ana, CA asked in Criminal Law and Family Law for California

Q: What are my options when my ex and I can't agree on a trip for our daughter?

I have physical custody but we have joint custody. My daughter is 8 and she wants to travel with her grandma to Mexico to visit her other grandma. She's traveled every summer the same way. But this year because of the divorce, my ex doesn't want to let her travel. Is there anything I can do?

A: See if your ex will accept a written agreement to bring her back and provide him with an itinerary. You can even make it a stipulation that is filed with the court as a court order. If the ex still insists on not letting her go, you may need to file a request for order.

A: You can file a motion in court to clarify the custody specifics, or you can negotiate a resolution via counsel. More details are necessary to provide a professional analysis of your issue. The best first step is an Initial Consultation with an Attorney.
