Q: While at a summer camp my child was lost on a supervised hike. Is the camp required by CA law to file an incident report
My child and another were left behind during an evening hike supervised by the camp counselors. They did not correctly follow company procedures; they did not take a head count of the children.
A: They should have reported the children as missing. However if they never knew they were missing I don't know that they are required to report an incident where the children are found. However the public health department licenses summer camps and you would want to check with them. Note: there does not seem to be an overall group that monitors safety at camps!
