Q: I'm 15 and I live in Ohio but I hate my mom. She's awful and she moved me from my friends in Georgia. Can I leave at 16?
My mom became a live in babysitter for these people who live in Georgia. We lived there about 8 months and I got close to the parents there and their oldest daughter. I recently started dating the oldest daughters best friend but my mom moved me to Ohio to keep me from them because she always does this. The parents there want me to live with them and would take me into their care if I moved out of my moms house. I have my own room there and it is a good environment for kids as she has 6 others and my girlfriend stays there in the summer.
A: No, you can't, until you are 18. Not unless both your parents would agree to some kind of custody arrangement in GA.. If you return to the family in GA without permission, they could get in trouble, and you could go to juvenile detention. It is normal for teens to rebel against their parents. Confide in other family members, a teacher, or other trusted adults for advice in getting along with your mother.
