A: Since you have decide to "break your lease" I will respond by saying you can cancel your utilities.

How will the landlord respond to your breaking the lease is a different situation all together.

A: Review the terms of your lease to see what it says about utilities. If you "break" your lease, you will want to be sure that you get an acknowledgement in writing from your landlord. If it is a situation where something came up and you are required to move and your landlord is in agreement to release you from your obligation under the terms of the lease, you will want to get that release in writing, otherwise, they will pursue you for back rent and possible damages. Best of Luck! Jennifer
