A: A lot of people in California do not use a lawyer during a home purchase. I recommend you do consult with an attorney. The purchase of a home is by far the largest and most important transaction many people will ever be involved in. A lawyer can explain the legal effect of the contract documents and help you make the right choices for you. Compared to the pruchase, the cost is minimal, and you may end up saving a lot more than you spend, plus avoid potential legal problems later.
