Q: What if I have two separate court cases on the same date and time in two different counties? What do I do?
One is family court and I have a lawyer but haven't talked to her yet the other is district court and I'm out on bond for this charge.
A: Criminal court takes precedence over family court. So get your family lawyer proof of your district court case and inform her to make a motion to continue. If you have know of this conflict for a while and sat on it and did nothing - expect to have problems. If you just found out and you do the responsible thing and notify your family law attorney immediately, you have a much better shot of the family law case being continued. Best of luck.
