Q: Can a trailer park tow your vehicle, without notifying you or even telling you where it is going to be towed to?
There is no sign posted about where we can even pick the car up from. The tow truck driver was extremely rude and told us we had to pay $128 to get it out of his lot but wouldn't give us the name of his lot and I did not see a company name on the tow truck. I was reading a little about the laws and i read they cannot charge more than $90 and $12 more for everyday we do not claim it. The sign at the entrance of the park says not to park on side streets, but nothing about the empty lots and also there is no sign stating where we can pick our vehicle up. The manager claims she sent out a newsletter about parking in these empty lots but neither us or the neighbor across the street received this newsletter. We are on a very fixed income and cannot afford $128 to get the vehicle out. Do I have any legal options or am I just stuck. Please help and thank you in advance.
A:
Signs about towing should be posted at the park. If not, then the towing could be illegal unless the park called the sheriff to have it towed. Call the sheriff or local police to report improper towing, and call the prosecutor's office. Also call the local county, township, or city government. Here is a link to the Ohio towing laws:
