Q: My son got a offer 10 year for assault do he have to take the offer

The public defender said she can't do nothing else

A: no Defendant has to take any offer.....

but a Defendant has to consider the consequences as to what will happen if they go to trial and lose.

the lawyer handling the case has all the info/facts and knows the DA and judge and what they would do with an adverse verdict

A: I suggest you speak to a private Criminal Defense Attorney for a Consultation if you can afford one. Your son does not have to accept the offer. He can request that his case proceed to trial. However, he needs to know the consequences if he loses at trial. Good luck.
