Q: I plan to file Pro Se, my stbx works out of state and will not give his location. How do I get him served?
Would that be considered abandonment? We have lived apart 4 years I have raised and supported the children. He was on SSI due to cancer, but he is now back in the workforce. He has no intentions to pay child support only what he deems necessary, mostly ridiculous gifts. Our children have major health issues and medical cost is financially taxing. During the 4 years I have given liberal visitation any time he has asked. We have no joint assets, I plan to file for sole custody given their medical decisions and his refusal to tell me when he leaves the state for work or where he can be reached. Our children have no desire to visit him due to his abusive behaviors, but I know he will be granted standard visitation.
A:
You should not file pro se. You should consult an experienced Family Law Attorney, in your area, for help with this problem and hire an investigator, or seek help from DHS parent locator to find the guy, and start getting child and medical support.
Good le k, and get some help to get this done right.
