Q: Does this constitute child abuse, and warrant legal action.
I am 30 now. But during high school, I went through a severe battle with depression. I was taken to see a psychiatrist and was put on antidepressants. I was put on a beginning dose. It helped a little. The doctor repeatedly said to increase the dose, but my mom refused, as she is superstitious about medication. And so I continued to suffer from depression throughout high school. Also during high school, my mother woke me up at 5:30 am every school day to attend an early morning religion class at our church. I repeatedly objected and asked to skip the religion class. She would have none of it. She threatened me, saying "you are free to stay home from it, but I won't drive you to school then." Consequently, I was always falling asleep in my actual school classes. I would pass out as soon as I came home from school. And I developed a severe sleep disorder that has stayed with me ever since. Does all of this constitute child abuse? If so, maybe I can finally persuade her to seek therapy.
A:
This is not traditional child abuse but in my opinion not good parenting............
even if it did you can not file against her after all this time.
whether it is or not you can still argue that to your mom.
sounds like she was a very religious person then..........now?
she is not going to listen to you as she did what she though was called for in her religion.
