Providence, RI asked in Landlord - Tenant for Rhode Island

Q: Does a cosigner on a rental apartment have to list their SSN? DO I need their SSN?

I have a potential tenant that is 25 years old, has been at new job for 2 months and does not have a rental history. Her father will cosign but he wishes to not provide SSN. Is it needed? The only reason I think I need him is to report to credit bureau agency if the cosigner does not pay after tenant has stopped paying. If worst case scenario happens, wouldn't I have to take to court anyways and depending on judgement - wouldn't the credit agency report if he loses case? I just wonder if I really do need his SSN. The property is located in Providence RI.
