Q: I’m 15 and ran away from home because of my abusive and irrational mom. She said she’s taking me to court. What for?
My mom has been emotionally and verbally abusive my entire life, my father as well. But, after a domestic violence case against my mom, he went to anger management counseling and is now a good parent. I want to live somewhere else (not with my mom) but my parents are not divorced. At the very least, I want her to get some court-ordered parenting classes or something of the like. I don’t know what she’s taking me to court for, but when I am allowed to speak in court I will not be out to get her; I only want to help her help me be a happy child.
A: If you ran away, she could go to juvenile court to have you determined to be an unruly child. Talk to your father or other family members, school counselor, or children's services.
