Porterville, CA asked in Child Custody, Domestic Violence and Family Law for California

Q: How do I Regain custody from abusive ex husband when I have no money for a lawyer

I left my ex husband with my childeren due to domestic violence and moved to a different county. Enrolled children in school and father came took childeren from school and moved back and filed for custody. He also filed a missing persons report even though he knew where I was. A custody was placed and I have visitation every other weekend and I pay child support. I have been so tramatized by this man that every time before I reach our exchange. I become nervous and scared. My hearts starts beating and I start shaking. Scared of what this man might do to me or the children. Or just refuse to let me see them at all. But because i have no extra income to hire a lawyer I feel as if all hope is lose for me. And the judge that signed the order told me that custody was final and ita to late to do anything. This was in 2015 and I have been a mess since then. I'm praying I can get some kind of help and have my childeren in my care once again.
