Mount Pleasant, MI asked in Landlord - Tenant for Michigan

Q: I live in the state of Michigan. Landlord trying to evict me even though rent has been paid just not always on time.

We informed our apartments office staff numerous times our rent is paid a little late every month even before we moved in based on how i get paid which is monthly. my girlfriend gets paid bi weekly but she pays her expensive on one of those weeks(.our income is 5x times the the rent amount) they said ok just inform them when we can. we been in a 12 month lease. that Lease was up in June. it is now July and we paid June last week(final month was paid). They sent us a court order for payments and eviction. we were shocked because we already informed the staff the situation. we also now have 2 extra months added because we didnt inform them 60 days in advance about us staying or leaving which is ridiculous so now we have to pay july and august and they are trying to take us to court for thoes 2 months. is this even legal in the state of michigan? How can you even evict someone off payments thats less than a month?
