A: Numerous people who file for bankruptcy retain legal counsel. If you are not represented by counsel, you could be in deeper trouble than what you think you are in now. You do not know the Federal Rules of Bankruptcy, or the local rules or case law. Would you do your own surgery?

A: There are many ways. Get help from family or friends. Work out a plan with the attorney if you're filing Chapter 13. Are you working? Have any source of income? If you qualify, get help from Legal Aid.
