Q: My parked car was hit by a drunk driver and it was deemed total and will only pay off my loan. Can i recover lost wages?

A: You can only recover wages if the crash physically injured you such that you could not work. You are allowed a few days of car rental to purchase a car. The law unfortunately doesn't cover the situation where you have a loan on the vehicle that's big enough so that you can't turn around and buy another one easily. However, under the state's Crime Victims Compensation Act you may be able to make such a claim though they may say that you are only covered for a short period of time.
