North Wales, PA asked in Criminal Law, Internet Law and Sexual Harassment for Pennsylvania

Q: Cyber stalking

My daughter has her Snapchat name pubically posted on her instagram (I had her remove this). Today she received an anonymous request via Snapchat. She asked who it was. The person stated they are a secret admirer and know her from a distance. This individual stated they have a girlfriend and know her from school.

She pressed who it is and the individual stated that they were embarrassed and wanted her to forget it. He immediately proceeded to delete his account and we are still unsure who it is.

My daughter is 18, but as parents this freaked us out. Would this constitute cyber stalking?

A: PA has no state law on cyber stalking. therefore federal anti cyber stalking law is applied here. i think this is cyber stalking under that act.
