Tampa, FL asked in Child Custody and Child Support for Florida

Q: My kids father requested a hearing to lower the suggested child support amount and I’m wondering if I need a lawyer

On top of the child support hearing I am also interested in what I need to do to file for custody since I was just informed yesterday that he is moving out of state and I do not want an issue where he tries to maybe take them. I am trying to be proactive in this situation and just need to be pointed in the right direction

A: It is always better to have the advice of a lawyer. Child support is based on the parent's net incomes so you will both be required to complete an up to date financial affidavit. Those numbers will then be used to calculate child support, which is a statutory formula.

Regarding relocation, the father can move wherever he wants but he cannot relocate the children more than 50 miles without yours or the court's permission.
