A: You can check the status of your application by entering your case receipt number in the USCIS online case status portal: https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do.

Did you submit your adjustment application (Form I-485) and application for employment authorization (Form I-765) in September 2018? If so, you may want to consult with an attorney in regards to the job permit.

A: It has only been 2 weeks since your interview. It is unfortunate that the officer told you it would only be a week, but at this point there is nothing to be concerned about.

It usually takes about four months to get the work authorization, so if you are within that time frame it is not unusual that you do not have it. If it is more than four months you might be able to contact USCIS to ask for a case status check.
