Q: Can I get reimbursed for vet expenses when neighbor dog killed and injured two of dogs.
The neighbor dog came out of house gate and attacked my dogs, killing one and injuring my other dog.
A: Yes, you can. Dog owners are responsible for injuries caused to another dog if they were negligent in failing to control their dog. Here, it appears that the dog owner was in violation of your local leash law, since his dog escaped his property. Present copies of your receipts to your neighbor and ask for payment. If you don't get it, sue in Small Claims. An attorney can help you prepare, file and serve the papers, but it is not required.
