A: If the document was filed in a court proceeding and it is provably a counterfeit or fraudulent document the correct thing to do is contact a police agency and a criminal investigation will be undertaken. If a judgement was secured in the underlying mortgage civil action then the correct thing to do is to have your lawyer file a motion to set aside the final disposition if it was and is in fact substantially based on the false, fraudulent or altered document.
