Galt, CA asked in Car Accidents for California

Q: I sold my Jetta on April 3. Mailed a release of liability that day to DMV. New owner was in minor accident April 4.

AAA says I'm still legal owner and responsible for the claim. Why?

A: NEED MORE INFO

THEIR POSITION IS THAT IT WAS NOT YET REC'D...........SO DOES CANCELLATION OF TITLE START ON DAY MAILED OR REC'D.....OBVIOUSLY DAY MAILED IS YOUR ARGUMENT.

I ALWAYS CHECK TO BE SURE NEW OWNER HAS INSURANCE IN PLACE SO I CAN CANCEL MINE.

DID YOU CANCEL INS AND HAVE INS ON NEW CAR? IF SO YOU CAN LET YOUR INS CO ARGUE FOR YOU.
