Salinas, CA asked in Criminal Law for California

Q: A lady accused me of a hit and run back in 2018, I never got a call or letter from the DA. I have a warrant now. Why?

When the police went to go look for me I automatically went to the police station and gave them my full coverage insurance proof and driver’s license and told them I had no reason to hit and run and there was no damage on both cars. My current job offer did a background check and now it turns out I have a warrant for my arrest since aug.2019 and I never got a letter in the mail nor did I know about this warrant till today. Help.

A: Sorry this happened to you, yes an attorney can help you resolve this. You may want to contact a more local attorney if it is up north, we are located in southern ca and would cover the LA County & Orange County.

The call and consult is usually free with most attorneys but you would need an attorney in your area.

Good Luck.

A: You aren't entitled to a letter. You have a hit and run. It shouldn't be surprising that you are the subject of a warrant. Get a lawyer and deal with it before you get arrested.
