A: Felony charges usually stay on your record for life until expunged. Call the District Attorney's office in the county you received the charge and see if you can get it expunged off your record. Certain criteria have to be met before it can be expunged.

A: A felony stays on your record for life unless you act proactively.

Start by checking the criminal records in the county where the felony conviction was entered. You can do it online by checking the county records.

Calling the DA will prove frustrating and ineffective. They are too busy and have no inclination to help. They're in the business to convict people, not help them move with their lives.

I suggest that you contact a criminal defense attorney in your area to see if your felony conviction is eligible for reduction to a misdemeanor (not all are) and from there an expungement.

Good luck.
