Q: As a GA driver who got a ticket for improper cellphone use in NY, will it appear on my record and also the points?

A: I do not believe it will affect your GA drivers license, but you should check with the GA DMV to be certain. You should consider retaining a NY attorney to represent in this matter. You would not have to appear.

A: Cell Phone tickets carry 5 points in NY, and NY keeps a record of the conviction, even though you are from GA.

Check with a GA attorney (or post this question in the GA forum) as to whether GA will put points on your GA record.

A: This is a 5 point violation. If you are found guilty the points will remain on your record in New York for 18 months from the date of violation. If you reach 11 points within 18 months your driving privileges in New York will be suspended.

This conviction will probably not be reported to Georgia
