Q: Can a lawyer I have used in the past be hired by the other side
A:
A Texas attorney could advise best, but your question remains open for a week. As a GENERAL matter, it could be conflict, maybe not be the readily apparent type where an attorney could not simultaneously represent two parties of opposed interests in the same transaction (such as both sides in a property sale or a divorce). But as a GENERAL matter, it could be a conflict based upon what the attorney knows about you, the relevancy of that knowledge to the current matter, the attorney's former role as a fiduciary to you, and other issues. Speak with a Texas attorney for a meaningful analysis. This is something deeper and more involved than a simple "yes" or "no" answer on this Q & A Board. Good luck
