Legal Aid is a privately funded service offered to people without the means to afford an attorney. Most of the time it offers assistance for eviction defense or litigation defense. Some LA offices provide services to people needing help with Family Law matters, such as yours. However there are many low priced attorneys in California, who might be able to assist you for a small amount up front and to get the rest from your spouse.
